About Homemade Rice Cereal
Rice cereals are excellent first food for the baby as it is less likely to trigger an allergic reaction when compared to other grains. One serving (70g) of home made rice cereal provides 20g carbohydrates, approx. 2 g of proteins and much-needed energy for babies to stay very active. Rice is a good source of calcium and magnesium. Rice contains small quantities of micronutrients including zinc, copper, and selenium. These micronutrients play an essential role in keeping several functions of the body going smoothly. Nutritious, filling and easily digestible first food for babies. Home made rice cereal is free from added preservatives, artificial flavors, sugar or salt.
How to use:
- Add 2tbsp of homemade rice cereal to 1 cup of water/milk and mix without lumps.
- Cook the mixture on medium flame for 15 minutes.
- Stir the porridge well and serve once it cools down.
- You can add a tablespoon of pureed vegetables or fruits to the rice cereal. Adding your baby’s favorite vegetable or fruit puree to the rice cereal can make them like it sooner.
